The Sidewinder

Original Mk I version

Mike Hill, Quentin Hall, and myself built this vehicle from scratch in about three months (for about Aus$3,000).  Some wits have called it the "Sideliner" because we keep on rolling it, putting holes in the crankcase and other fun things, but it is an awesome little machine.

With the next version Mick and I and now also Jeremy Burtenshaw made a lot of changes including installing a water-cooled, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, twin cam, engine from a 1994 Kawasaki ZXR400 motorcycle which most importantly added electric key-start. No more getting out and having to kick-start the beggar - About bloomin time... :-) Mk II Lancelin video footage

Wayne Johnston fully joined the team for what is now the current version of our Sidewinder. It features another new engine, this time a 450cc twin air-cooled engine off a Suzuki road bike that boasts much better low-end torque, lighter weight and smaller size than the 4 cylinder and being of an older vintage isn't nearly as picky regarding air or fuel flow. It's definitely the pick of the bunch. Mk III Geraldton video footage
