Koolpin is a restricted campsite that only allows a dozen campers in per night
You have to book months in advance
and get a key from the ranger to get in the gate...
...at the entrance to the long windy track leading in to the camp site
Ian had the great idea to see if there had been any cancellations to get in and there was.
so we had the privilege of avoiding the madding crowd
at this absolutely gorgeous spot
We got up before the sun to take some sunrise shots
our camera just didn't o justice to it all
Okay, we went a little mad with our photography!
Tiff in the Gorge
small paperbark grove on the way up Koolpin Gorge
more beautiful billabongs as we walked further into the gorge
Pretty low chance of crocs here so we swam here to cool off later on our way back
The Koolpin gorge consists of beautiful billabong after billabong separated by lovely waterfalls
winding its way gradually up the scarp
